Probably not! Take it to a parts store such as Auto Zone and they will scan your computer for free, and tell you what you need to do to resolve the problem if it is computer (sensor) related. Many different things can cause this problem, and it is a pretty typical problem. One thing you can do yourself is to look at the vacuum hoses that are on the engine, and pay close attention to where they plug on, as they are bad to split and leak causing an idle problem. The best thing to do is; take it to a mechanic, and have them repair the problem. You may have a clogged idle circuit, sticking EGR valve, bad idle control sensor, or throttle position sensor. I could guess all day, but a good mechanic can tell you right away. If you go to a parts store and have the codes pulled, don't have them erased as the mechanic will need them when he does the repair work, but this will give you a leg up on the problem, and you will be armed with this information when you go to a shop to have it looked at. A lot of times IF a shop thinks you know what you are talking about, they won't try to take advantage of you. Not all mechanics are rip offs, but there are a few that give us honest ones a bad reputation.
Glad I could help you. Good Luck!!!

There are a number of possibilities - vacuum leaks can cause an engine to die at idle as well..have it checked out at a Ford dealership.

Engines rarely fail on these vans. An IAC motor or cam sensor & synchronizer needing replacement will cause the symptom you describe. Is your 'check engine' light on?

i own a repair shop, and i doubt that you need a new engine,,you may just need a good tune up or something replaced on it,,unless it has been run hot and you have ruin it,,i wouldn't think the engine would need replaced in it,you need to take it by any auto zone store,,and have them scan it to see why its doing this,,the test is free, and they can tell you probably whats causing this to happen to it,,good luck with it,i hope this help,s.,,have a good x-mas.

couple of possible causes, IAC (idle air control valve) or vacuum leak. Check the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose to the intake and make sure it is hooked up.

No, but you probably need to have your charging system checked out. I'd also get a tune up, fuel injectors cleaned, and an air filter changed.

No, you may need to check your EFI or Electronic Fuel Injection lines to see if they are backed up. Try flushing out your fuel lines to stop it. More than likely its a shortage of fuel.
