What a brad question! I live in the U.P. There are so many places to choose from, the Hiawatha Forrest out side of Munising is nice, steer clear of Otter Lake Resort though! You can camp or rent a cabin all around, many great fishing lakes, trails and what not. Up in the Copper country towards Ontonogin is the Porkie Pine Mtns. they have both rustic and non rustic camp grounds there, water fall quite beautiful! Autrain has great cabins and camp ground fishing lakes. Past Toivola is Twin Lakes St campground, but if you go a bit past that there are rustic spots on Emily Lake, Pike lake and Clear lake!
Big Bay has something going on most of the time, they have Perkins Park Camp Ground, and some hotels and cabins.
I lobe Upper Michigan and we have so much to see and do, Copper Harbor is nice but take one way there and another way back! Aget Beach and Misoury Bay in Toivola are great!

I am from mi and my two favorite places are Algonac State park beautiful right on the water, and In Oscoda. Just gorgeous

Mackinac or any of the areas around that are so pretty. My favourite is Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. This is like being in heaven. Have fun.
