I have had three removed. And it was not painful but my skin in those areas are very dry and flaky. But it is a good idea if you have to remove it . Since you tattoo is so big you may have to go a period of 2mths or more. Because you only can go under that machine for so many hours. It is a good idea but do you research and do it some more after wards. Good luck.

I have gotten a tattoo removed, but it was free. My tattoo was on my ankle and wrist, and let me tell you, it is definitely more painful than the tattoo itself, especially since you have to go back several more times. I had to get treatments for about over a year, I would go every six weeks or so. It did not scar, but there is a slight difference in the skin. But like I said, I got mine removed at a "free clinic" so their treatments are not as good as private offices. If you go to a place that's specializes in lasers for different conditions, it shouldn't take as long as mine did. If you live in a place that has many places that offer tattoo removal, it might not be as expensive as you think; especially since the holidays are around the corner. Many places will offer discounts during this time, so check around.

There is an IPL technique from a machine called Palomer. This will actually pull out the tattoo in the form of a dry scab. It takes several treatments and is painful. Most people apply Elmra cream first or a topical lidocaine ointment. It will not scar you if you go to a docter for the procedure. Most laser can scar in the hands of an untrained person. I suggest you ask questions and ask to see pictures. Some tattoo's will never totally come out and you need to know that before you decide.

Oh god, yes it is expensive. Even in the cheapest phase a small tattoo in a range of 2 - 3 inches can cost 200 dollars to get removed. And though i wouldn't think they're would be scars... no one's cutting you, I mean there is still ink left under your skin. Of course I would strongly hoep that your not under 28, but now looking at it, I'm supposing you are. Don't mudelate til your 28!

I have a giant tatt on my back and part of it had to come off. I had a tattoo artist put in Tat Gone Ink. Worked very well and wasn't as expensive or painful as laser. Since it gets tattooed right over the old tatt there usually aren't big mistakes.
Check out the tatt gone web site to see if any artists in your area use it.
I paid 50.00 to have it done.

You will still have a scar in the shape of the tattoo for a LONG time. It's rather painful, because they're zapping the ink out of your skin. I've heard it feels like each charge feels like being snapped hard with a rubberband. And it's usually about twice as expensive as getting the tattoo.

I haven't gotten one removed, but I assume it is going to hurt. The ink is under your skin, there is going to be no easy way to get it out. I think I heard somewhere that getting one removed hurts eve more then getting the actual tattoo.

I personally have never gotten one removed but my brother had one treatment to get one of his removed and he never went back to finish it... he said it was the most painful thing he'd ever felt and it swelled really awful... and for my brother to say it was painful it really had to hurt... he's covered in tattoos... other than the pain I don't know anything about getting them done... sorry
