We have these ongoing "discussions" about the pros/cons of owning a Pit Bull. Tonight she has parents of a child that their P.B. ate the baby's toes off ! It might be an important program to view. Are you going to watch it??

O.K. The program is over. NOW, do you still want to say it is the OWNER that creates the P.B. that mauls or kills? This was a puppy!! Normal puppies do not chew babies toes off. IT JUST DOES NOT HAPPEN THAT WAY !!!

I am in no way protecting the parents here. They should not have the child or a dog. But in this case they were just plain stupid.
BUT it is the breed of dog, not the owners that caused this tragedy.

For those of you who continue to blame the owners and say there are other breeds who attack more often, my point is the P.B. is extremely strong and you can't pull them off when they attack. I have seen it happen. You cannot stop them once they have attacked and chomped down. That is the danger. My P.B. did it. I have explained that on this site before.

I am sorry and i know that I am going to get alot of flack about this but I m sorry if you want to have a pit bull then please muzzle it when you have it outside . I have a neighbor who lets his pit terrorize the neighborhood . well yesterday the animal control came and got it .It turned on it 's owner and the animal control officer . The owner took 17 stitches and the animal control officer took 21 stitches I guess she is lucky that she still has an arm. These pit are capable of breaking a bone and taking your arm completely off yes other dogs bite but not to the extent of taking your arm off or breaking a bone. I m sorry but please if you own one of these dogs muzzle it . So it does not hurt some innocent person walking down the street.

Nancy Grace is the epitome of sensationalist self-righteous TV, I can believe that a Pit ate a babies toes off. I can believe any dog could have done that sort of thing if a sizeable dog or even a smaller dog and a baby was not supervised around a large dog. Where were the idiot parents? Didn't they hear their child cry? Something wrong with this picture.
I have a Pit that is great with kids. I have three large dogs. The other two are Golden Retriever mix and Aussie mix. Of the three, the Golden and Aussie mixes are more apt to bite if they were teased by a child. I would be concerned about any dog left around a baby, especially a large and powerful breed just because of their sheer weight and sometimes not knowing their own strength.
If you look for horror stories of any breed you will find them. TAKE COCKER SPANIELS FOR INSTANCE. Does that make the breed bad? No. But in ban-crazy America, pretty soon we will be so legalistic that just about everything will be banned that doesn't fit the fu-fu PC elite's definition of "okay".
I think you have blinders and want to find something to scapegoat for all that is bad in the world.

It is a puppy for god sake!!! First of all if anyone has ever had a puppy or even a full grown dog they know that they are curious and will tend to chew on things and if no one is around to stop them from chewing then they will continue until someone stops them or they are no longer interested in chewing. Second "WHERE THE HELL WERE THE PEOPLE LOOKING AFTER THE BABY?"" WHY WAS THE BABY LYING WHERE THE DOG COULD EASILY GET TO IT?" I am not saying that the baby deserved to lose all its' toes, but I blame the people looking after the child. There for since it is only a puppy and it is a living creature I feel that it should not be put to sleep. Maybe if it were older and then in that case it would be a bigger threat. I rest my case. Thank you posting the question and giving me something to talk about.

No way that woman is the most ignorant person alive. That whole topic is biased by ignorant people who want to believe a topic exploited by the media. There are alot of other breeds that are aggressive by nature the Pit Is trained to be that way. Akitas actually have a higher unprovoked attack rate if you equaled out the numbers of breedings.
It is not the dogs it is the people that are the problem. And even if all the stupid got their wish and got Pits banned the dog figthers and idiots would find another breed to exploit.

I wont watch it. I own over a dozen breeds of dogs plus over 20 mutts (strays) that the shelter wouldn't take including 3 fullblood pit bulls. The pit bulls are the most loving of the breeds i have. One female we had to let live in the house because she would get so sad when we put her out she would stop eating and would be starting to get thin we brought her back inside and she would quickly return to normal. She insists on sleeping beside me with her head on my pillow or chest. She has even carried puppies that are not hers back to their momma's. they are a very loving dog if treated right. You can never feed them raw meat like other dogs and donot hit them. They respond to vocal commands better then any dog i have seen and donot need to be hit. Many other dogs are alot more aggressive then pits. It is time for the media to back off and leave an excellent breed of dog alone. When will they come out and film a loving pit and put that on the news?

I love dogs. I've liked every pitbull I've met. And I think that humans should wean themselves from their attachment to pitbulls. Why? Because the idiots that shouldn't own a dog in the first place are usually the ones that want pitbulls, and they screw it up for the rest of us. Pitbulls are "discriminated" against because they can do a lot of damage (they were bred to do so) and although they can be controlled and raised to be great dogs, they are by far one of the toughest for any owner to curb due to their general temperment, much less for meatheaded idiots who get pits for their image.

But I wouldn't mind if a pit tore nancy grace's face off. It'll do everyone in the world a favor, including her.

I honestly believe it is the owners taht are the problem and not the dog. I've met so many gentle and loving Pit Bulls and i've also seen many 16 yr olds kids that buy a pit bull and beat it silly so it can be ferocious. Its sad becuz more and more cities are banning pitbulls in their community or require them to wear muzzles while walking.

Did you see where this was a six week old pup and where were the parents? Even a newborn can cry. I will watch it but there has to be some real answers before I will blame it on the dog just because its a Pitt. I don't even like Pitts but, feel this one is getting a bad rap!

No, I'm not. I own a pitbull and it annoys me to no end to see how that particular breed is discriminated. It's not the dogs that are to blame, it's the owners. Even if they're not fighting their dog, something happened that made that pit hurt the baby.
Besides, I don't think Nancy Grace should be so high and mighty. She's a redneck bighead, who exploits the death of her fiance some twenty years ago. Very sad.
She doesn't debate, she tries to shove her opinion down people's throats. If they don't like it, she mocks them. How is that professional?

Maybe it will open peoples eyes. I'm in college and so many students here have pits, but they are not responsible enough to own them. I think pits get a bad rap because of type of people that own them (I'm just saying these owners don't now how to handle this type of dog). I have met plenty that are very friendly but I still wouldn't leave a small child around them
