I am 29 and lost mine when I married my husband at 22. It's NOT that hard to refrain from sex til marriage. THAT being said. . .
I would say 18 if she doesn't feel the need to save herself for her husband ( which is the BEST gift you can EVER give to him )
A young girl is just not mentally able to deal with the stresses of a sex life. I could possibly ruin her life, her reputaion ( anyone watch Friday Night Lights? ), or cause death from an STD. I know what I am saying isn't 'ideal' in todays world, but PLEASE encourage her to NOT HAVE SEX!!!

I am not sure of statistics. But I lost my virginity when I was 15 years old. And most of my friends were losing their virginity around the same time.
Just make sure you talk to her and let her know how to be safe if she is going to have sex. If you know that she will "go with the flow" let her know that she can talk to you, and that she shouldn't be afraid to share things with you.
I think that the reason there are so many teen pregnancy's is because the teenagers are afraid to talk to their parents, and don't get the real information on sex and protection. (I was a seventeen when I got pregnant for the first time.)

These days it seems like all these kids are out losing it around 13-17yrs old. WHICH IS SOOO WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS! I intended on waiting till marriage but let mine go in a 3.5 yr relationship with a guy who intended to marry me. THings happen. I was 19 when I lost mine, Some times I think back and say that was too young and sometimes I say I was too old. The way the kids are these days I sounded old! What has happened to todays society? If she has a good head on her shoulders she'll wait~!

RE:
average age for loosing virginity?
I have a teenager daughter and I want to be realistic in my expectations with her. Of coarse as a mother I would like her to focus on studies and meet her prince "The One and Only" when she is in her 20s. But it does not sound realistic. She is a girl mostly within the average of her...

well i hate to say it, but now adays girls usually dont keep thier virginity pass 14, however if you raised yourself a good girl, you may be lucky if she holds on to her best friend until her is 16 or 17. I made the mistake of loosing mine at 14! lets hope she doesnt cause let me tell ya, she will regret it... im sure if once a week thr 2 of you have a mother daughter night where u just talk and so on...spend time together go out for lunch yada yada yada, she will open up...maybe she has already lost it!?...she will come out and tell you though. When u notice she gets really into hanging out with guys...going to thier house(for the day or ngiht)..than u need to be more concerned. But ya id say alot of them lose it at 14(i did because it was cool and now i regret it!), but mant of them hold on to it until they are 16 or 17... its hard in todays society with peer pressure and guys saying "if you love me you'll do it!" and so on... if you have any more questions let me now, im free to answer anytime...im still young but im old enough to know what id id in life some was right others were worng.

good luck.
peer pressure plays a HUGE role in todays teenage society! over all i wouldsay 15-17 is the avg age...closer to 15 though!

well i lost mine when i was 15... thats about the normal age i guess 15 or 16. when i was that age i hardly new anyone that was a virgin. the best advice that i can give you is when your daughter does make that step not to be to overprotective my mother never thought anything i did was right and that caused me to want to do everything i could to show her i didnt care what she though. me and my mother dont speak anymore and i think its because of the relationship we had when i was younger im 19 now. but all i can tell you with your daughter is let her know you will always love her no matter what she does and let her know she can trust you no matter what. i promise it will help your relationship with her if yall can talk openly about anything...

I was 15 years old and so was my boyfriend at the time. Sometimes I wish I had waited. But let's face it, you are always gonna think that "the one" is the right "one"
You must really talk with your daughter and give her the facts about sex. At a young age, it is much harder to deal with these new emotions.
You can't watch your children 24 hours a day, so I feel you on being realistic.
Just make sure she is educated on pregnancy, STD's and so forth. Make her feel unafraid to come to you if she is experiencing a problem.

I lost my virginity at 15. I had my first baby at 19 when I was in college. I'm 20 about to 21 and I'm expecting my second daughter with the same guy in May. We're engaged, I work in a law firm and I attend college. It's not an ideal situation but not all sexually active teens end up with an unhappy ending.

I lost mine at the age of 16. I think however that 16-19 is the average age. Just make sure that she is well educated as to the consequences.
