Yes, I work with the homeless men and serve in the local prisons teaching the men about the bible and worshiping with them. This is the best thing i have ever done. I thank God everyday for the opportunity to have the ministry that he has provided for me.

Yes, I volunteer at a homeless shelter each week. My life is very busy and sometimes I feel tired and wish I could just go home and take it easy instead. At those times I go thinking I am only doing this because they are counting on me and I made the commitment. Usually after though I feel rather recharged and so glad that I pushed myself and did it. I think when we reach out and do things to help improve our world we are in fact improving our own quality of lives and the quality of the world we will leave for the next generation so it is not something that I necessarily see as some saintly act of giving.

If I may. let me relay a story.
I was at a convenience store and there was a homeless man outside who just looked like death. He didnt ask me for a dime or for help or for food. As I exited the store he looked at me and in his eyes I saw such despair and thought "who was this man before he was this creature i am looking at now?". I walked over to him and asked him if there was anything I could do for him? a ride somewhere? Something-ANYTHING! He stated that he was hungry and hadnt eaten in 2 days, so I went back into the store and bought him a bag of chips, a sandwich, and a coke and brought this out to him. Upon receipt of these items, the man began to cry and stood up and hugged me and thanked me and blessed me. I dont know if I did this to make myself feel good or to make HIM feel good, but in effect I think it made us both feel good. It was extremely rewarding to know that one small gesture (which only cost me about $5.00) meant the world to him and made me feel like I had really done something important.
(are we all teary eyed now?)
and might I say, THIS IS AN AWESOME QUESTION!! Its obvious that you are a compassionnate person.
All my best to you!

I went to a church that was by a men's mission for several years. I love to give a hug to people for Jesus. ( my sister calls it the hug a bum program) I had several people tell me that they hadn't had a hug for many years for anyone.
A simple touch means so much for someone who has no one. A smile instead of not looking them in the eye.

Rewarding? yes. I hope some light goes out into the world, for it is dark. be blessed.

Yes it does make me feel good that I can help someone who is less fortunate, but I don't seek any reward for doing it.

I find, that at this time of year, my compassion for humanity meter goes off the charts, which causes me a great deal of emotional pain. I don't find it rewarding, I find it sad that more people don't extend compassion towards their fellow man and instead choose to spend billions of dollars to celebrate a holiday that I don't subscribe to.

There is no better feeling in the world than helping out others. I hate to admit it sometimes, but it is indeed better to give than to receive.
