Hello,
I am trying to get Sky tv in Europe. Lots of people here have got it.

However when the engineer came out, he spent all day and could not get adequate signal.

The only thing he could come up with was that opposite the house is some sort of radio/telephone transmitter. It looks like a mobile phone mast to me. Its about 50m away from house.

However other people in the street have some sort of satelite, prob not sky though.

Im in a house not a block of flats and in a city, not some place remote!

Anyone heard of a radio/telephone transmitter interfering with sky digital signal.

They said a 2-3m dish might work, but to be honest they said they couldnt say if this would work. Also they said they think its the mast but cant say 100% guarantee, just its most likely culprit.

Anyone know of this problem and any way around it. They said weak signal and we wouldnt get picture.

Thanks

I'm not well versed in the ins and outs of things like phone mast interference, but the further from the UK you are, the bigger the dishyou will need as Sky is primarily broadcast at the UK

When I went to Spain, the expats were watching Sky through 1-2m wide dishes as the original minidish wouldn't pickup a signal. Even then interference was possible depending on conditions.

Lastly, can the dish be moved to another part of the property, where it wont be facing directly into the structure of the mobile mast?

to get sky digital you must have a clear line of site, by using a 2-3 meter dish your signal should fly in. the phone mast seems to be
far enough away .or try a different company ? good luck
