Not rude, but certainly not the personal touch. How about getting the snail mail addresses by email, and then sending out Happy New Year's cards instead of xmas cards? That will give you a bit more time to get things together.

I don't know about rude, some are pretty funny. If I saw a cool one, I would send that to my friends, but I will always send them a paper card as well. If I was receiving them, I would not take an email card as seriously or as personal as a paper card.

I dont think that email cards are rude, but the traditional written cards are a little more personal and they touch the heart more.

I would send e-cards, but explain that you've lost your addresses in the move, and ask them to e-mail you their address. Then send a new year's letter/card. That should cover all your bases.

I think you should send regular cards to your good friends. E-mail may be fine for others. Christmas is one time I think you should go the extra mile and exert a little more effort. I'm with your mom.

In today's world, I think e-cards are perfectly fine. In fact, the only people I send regular cards to are older family members who don't have computers. It isn't rude to tell someone you are thinking of them (even if it is through the computer). Plus, think of the environmental good you are doing by not killing trees!

I guess this all depends on who(m) the email cards are going to. Family & close friends you should defitinely mail the cards. Associates can get the e-mail cards.

E-mail Christmas cards is the way to go. Why waste postage? Why make people keep the cards to take up space/

I think written cards are much more personal and thoughtful. Stick with the old fashioned way.
