I think the ornament is a good idea. I would get someone who has everything something personal, not something that they could just go and buy themselves. You could try a scrapbook with pictures of you and him, or your/his favorite picture of you and him in a homemade picture frame. I would just try and add something personal to whatever you do. He may like that.

Why dont' you try a gift that not very many people do? Donate something to someone, or somewhere, in his name. Some thing that he would like. If he likes animals, donate to the local animal shelter, or adopt a pet from a website. It's like adopting a child from africa or the philippines. Or if he prefers, adopt one of those children in his name. Something that he would be passionate about, or interested in, that is in his name would be a great gift!
Or if he has some old pictures laying around, snatch them when he isn't looking, and have them remade. I'm sure you've seen the commercials or ads about photo restoration. Find somewhere that can do that for you, and give him a new photo album with all his old photo's. People take pictures for a reason, and with everything else on earth, they age. By having them restored, it's like saying "here's your same things, only newer! I want to keep something that's close to you, close to me". I'm sure he'll like that! Who wouldn't??

That sounds like my dad. I think the ornament idea is a good one. I usually give my dad pictures of his grand kids. He always seems to like that sort of thing better than something I spend a lot of money on anyway.

it s the simple things in life that make adifference.Have you considered doing something that does not involve buying like writing hima poem(your own creation) or a record hima song or a painting. Think of something that is priceless and he won't have to compare with anything he ahs bought

That sounds like a great plan. Or you can make him something, that only you can do. That way it's original, and not something he can buy, plus it's priceless because you made it for him.
