Men dont make excuses for being fat. They'll admit it's too many burgers and too much beer. I've never heard a guy say Oh! it's my thyroid.

If a med causes weight gain, then one needs to adjust caloric intake and activity level.

I'm overweight and it's definitely my fault and no one else's. Not eating right and little to no exercise will have the pounds piling up. But now I'm training for bodybuilding. I'm actually squatting with 220 on my legs. HUGE improvement. I've only lost 7 lbs, but I'm gaining muscle. You can't fix it until you own it. So own it ladies! Admit it and then fix it! :)

The combination of overeating and underexcercising are honestly the main causes of weight gain. It's true that some people have a slower metabolism than others, but ultimately - it has to do with the ratio of what a person puts in their mouth vs. what they expend in energy. For this reason, being overweight IS a choice. Overweight people don't like to hear that and often blame "glands" etc., but it comes down to consuming more calories than they burn off. No one needs to be overweight if they follow a proper diet and excercise program.

Weight gain can be caused by medication, illness or a physiological problem like a hyper active thyroid. Any of the above can cause a change in the metabolism and make it difficult for people who are even dieting to keep weight off.
I'm not over weight but I have had issues with weight gain from certain medications and have been told by doctors that the medication probably slowed my metabolism. Ask a healthcare professional if you need or want more information.

It disgusts me and I don't buy it at all!
A little extra weight is ok, no need to be skin & bones either....but SOME (and let me make sure that is well understood)...Some, of these women today have lost all self control.....They should have a little pride... it's because they are too lazy to cook and pile on the fast food and eat out all the time....have you seen the portions lately??? And exercise...most people today haven't heard of it! The problem is, they raise their children the same way....
Other women acknowledge that they have to eat right and exercise to stay in shape!

sometimes it has nothing to do with over eating or under excersize the truth is sometimes there are medical reasons for it and at others it is the truth as is above and i will admit to you that i am an over weight woman but i do not over eat, i dont excersize enough, there just doesnt seem to be enough time in the day when there are three children, but i dont overeat as a matter of fact i just dont eat the right way and am not eating enough so there for i am not loosing any wieght either. i just dont have the time

If I see a fat person at fast food restaurant and/or taking the escalator instead of the stairs to go up one flight, then you are open target for ridicule. While I will certainly not say anything, I am thinking you are a fat bastard.

You know---overweight is not always by eating and stuffing your face--it can be a medical condition too--such as a thyroid problem. I believe there are many reasons as to why and it is not just women--please don't categorize them this way.
