NO.
if this is about America being a melting pot of all cultures and languages, then we should have English, French, Chinese, Korean, Swahili, Indian, Vietnamese, German, Japanese, Arabic,
Icelandic, Finish,......etc all languages that are spoken by the immigrants here.
this is about businesses and governments accommodate to a large group of people who insist upon being treated as a secondary and less intelligent group of people.

Here in Arizona we voted and passed a state law that makes English our official language. There are I think 28 states that have done that so far.Our nation never felt the need to make English its official language because it was and still is a predominately English speaking country.
To do business with people that use English as their second language, business have opted for this press 1 style of doing business over the phone.
I can understand from a business point of view why they do this.I also can understand an English speaking American getting upset with this system. The only way that you can show your dislike of this is to not use the services of company's that use this calling system. But that means no lights, phone, water, gas cable, etc. So even if we don't like it I cant see a way to stop it .Can you ?

Honestly no I don't. Those automated systems are long enough as it is without having one additional question.

In my personal opinion I feel that while different languages should be an option, it should be a different phone number that should be offered to those speaking another language.

English is still the primary language of the United States and should be treated as such.

My grandfather was a legal immigrant from Mexico and you better speak English in his house or you got a smack. I hate pressing 1.

No I don't. Everyone living in the United States should know English. It should be a requirement. We have done enough catering to all these foreigners. Enough is enough.

What about pressing one for Spanish and two for English ? That's a good one too. Even thought I speak Spanish fluently, I was surprised to hear this one time.

I think they should re-word those messages, say 'press 7 for other language options' etc., but have the default be english.
English REALLY isn't that hard to learn...people just want to be catered to...

There should be no pressing 1 for English - everything should be in English already!!!!!! This is the United States of America, we speak English! English should be national language!!
Why do we have signs, recordings in Spanish anyway??
What about all the other immigrants who came to the US. We don't have to Press 1 for English, Press 2 for French, Press 3 for German. Why?? BECAUSE THEY LEARNED TO SPEAK ENGLISH!!
Why should Spanish get special treatment????????

It's fine with me; around here (Seattle area) there are so many languages generally spoken that you may have a half-dozen options; I think I'm strong enough to manage an extra keystroke on my phone, even at the decrepit age of 51 ;-)

I really don't mind...
It's not like it takes all of my energy to press another digit...
Good things happen to people with good attitude, so brighten up!
