After the fall of the Iron Curtain arms dealers were buying old Soviet weapons. Then I heard a story about a month ago that drug runners from South America were smuggling cocaine into the US with an old Soviet Sub. How much do you think it would cost (US$) to buy one of these Kilo class subs and how would the US Coast Guard not Navy catch a sub that is under water that deep?

As to how much it would cost 10 million dollars I believe was
the last figure I heard.

As to how the Coast Guard would find them, the same way the
Navy would, sonar and hydrophones.

The thing is that particular class of Russian sub has several
basic design flaws. They have a tendency to sink with all hands.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a nice day.

Thank you very much, while you're up!!!!

Extremely sensitive Satellite magnetometers constantly track all vessels on (and under) the seas. (shhhh). The old obsolete subs show up like a sore thumb. Any un identified sub approaching this country will find it's self shadowed by a very nasty U.S. Destroyer bristling with depth charges. Forget the Coast Guard, they standby to pick up survivors.

Soviet era weapons are outdated, what would you want with a Soviet era sub? You might probably just drown as you first operate it!

PS: I like tanks.
