In Apatzingan,thousands of troops rolled into this drug stronghold,and set fire to marijuana and opium fields and rounded up drug trafickers.New President Calderon wants to restore order in a region where smugglers have defied authorities wth beheadings and large scale drug production.Navy ships were potroling the Lazaro Cardenas port a hub for drugs arriving from Central America and Columbia.They used 6,500 soldiers and federal police in this action..They are accelerating drug seixures along the border also.
Do you think this will help stop the flow of
drugs into Mexico.Do you think its a step in the right direction ? Is this a serious attempt to curtail the drug trade,or just more smoke and mirrors?

This campaign echoes crackdowns by previous pesidents who repeatedly ordered mass firings of drug corrupted police,revampted courts,all without making much of a dent in the quanity of drugs crossing the US-Mexican border

Its too early to tell. There have been drug cartel busts in the past, that doesnt mean that the new pres is any better than the rest. We can only pray for the best.

Hopefully this president will make good on all his plans for Mexico. He wants to invite in investors from all over the world, so perhaps he is cracking down on the drug lords in order to make the country safer for foreign businessmen.

Well I don't condone burning of marijuana, I do think it's time to put a stop to the rampant corruption going on down there near the border.

let not be so dam naive most of the Mexican military and government officials is in with these drug dealers so i don't think this government will make much of a difference down in Mexico or on our borders

Same sheeet every time a new president comes we get this feeling that things are really going to change this time, but it never does.

As long as drugs are illegal we will have drug dealers and drug mafias.

All of Mexico government when they get elected, do the same at first,, why? I guess to let them know that there is a new boss in town and who's going to get paid. Afterward everything goes the same. You'll see..
