Can I take any high quality photos with my Fuji S5600 of aircraft?

any tips on taking high quality photos with the s5600 5mp camera? Some that will be accepted on this site: www.airliners.net

Well, you should be able to take some pictures which are airliners.net worthy. I have a Digital Rebel XT, but sometimes I also use my Canon A700, and I have had a few taken with it accepted.

They like sharp and clear pictures. So your biggest worry is noise. This means, if the light conditions allow it, use ISO 80 or 100. That will give you the lowest noise.

The next problem is blur resulting from a moving aircraft or too long of a shutter speed. When you zoom in, not only does it magnify the plane, but also your shaking. So make sure you always use the fastest shutter speed available. I recommend using aperture priority or shutter speed priority. I usually use aperture priority, and open to the biggest aperture (or the next stop down to increase image quality a little) and then let the camera pick the speed for me.

Post processing is also important. Whichever software you use, I recommend you crop the picture so that it is in the center and pretty much fills the whole picture. Don't forget to sharpen the picture somewhat. Use the "Levels" command to adjust the bright and dark areas. Last but not least, make sure the picture is perfectly level. They will reject it if it is not. So be sure to rotate it until the horizon is perfectly straight.

That should do it. Practice is the best way to go, so shoot away...
