I think it's someone who has an influence over all aspects... And he who is accepted and honored even by other religions. I guess it Sounds like the Pope. I'm sorry for those who love him, but I dont think that it's Pope Benedict XXVI. There will come a pope who will exalt himself other than God.

PS: I respect popes. But remember, there are Anti-popes throughtout the history. He may be that.

Although I believe the antichrist is alive today, I don't believe he'll be recognizable until events permit it. All we know about him is that he'll be a gentile (Rev. 13:1), not a Jew, as some mistakenly conclude; and he will come from Italy (Daniel 9:26).

"Cthemajic," the Bible doesn't say the Antichrist will be born in a land north of Israel; it says he will INVADE from the North. There are many geographic and strategic reasons why a Northern invasion would be best. For ex. the Ezekiel 38/39 invasion comes from the North (but it's not lead by the antichrist).

To those writing that the Antichrist will not be one person: a careful review of the original Greek words written at 1 John 2:18 proves the apostle John was writing about ONE person: "Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that THE Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour." It is this person (singular) who is called "the prince who is to come" at Daniel 9:26.

The Bible says that the anti-Christ will be very charismatic and the nations of the world will follow him. I think, since most world leaders don't like President Bush, that it can't be him. I tend to lean toward someone like Barak Obama. Face it, have you ever seen someone burst upon the political scene as quickly as he has and suddenly he is on every newscast and people are fawning over him like he was a rock star or something? He has too many people falling at his feet too quickly for me to feel comfortable about him.

I agree with the person above who said it's not going to be just one person. I think the media has sold out so badly to the lowest common denominator that they are rife for corruption. They have allowed uneducated asses with worthless opinions to take over the airwaves, because those shows appeal to other uneducated asses with worthless opinions, and that equals advertising dollars.
