Well, I'm from Croatia, and when I first started learning English, my teachers all spoke with an American accent (which is actually peculiar for a European country), so I've been speaking American English for all my life. In my opinion, it's easier for a foreigner to gain an American accent, rather than a British or an Australian one. And when it comes to what it sounds like, it's not especially sexy, but it sounds well. ( However, when people say that Australian, Jamaican or Irish accents are more interesting, they have a point there. But it's probably because of the fact that you can hear American accents more frequently on TV, etc..)

I tend to find people with accents less boring, but American accents seem to have less of an effect. Probably because we get so much of your television and stuff that I've just gotten used to it. I'm Australian, by the way.

To foreigners, American English is ugly, lol. Depending on what part of the country you're from, American accents can sound pretty bad. My Italian professor complains all the time that we never pronounce any letters in our words! lol, Or maybe that's just a Philly thing ..

I have no problem with American accents. I don't find them especially sexy but they're fine, not crude or crass.

A little bit nasal, but still nice.
There are many variations locally, but most of them keeping the "american trait"
