I met my girlfriends parents about 3 weeks ago for the first time and now they have invited me over to their house for a Christmas party on Christmas. We hit it off real well when we met a few weeks back.
I could get a bottle of nice wine which would definitly be approprite but I wanted to see if anyone else had any good ideas!

Check with your gf to see what they like. You never know what their dietary restrictions are, and she may be able to give you some pointers. If not, here are some ideas:
--wine (see if they have a preference, white or red)
--cheese
--chocolate
--fancy crackers
--coffee/tea/hot chocolate
--fruit basket
--nuts
--eggnog
--wine glasses or some sort of drinkware

A bottle of wine is a wonderful gift. You could also bring a plate of homemade cookies and fudge.
Also, you could get some "bling" for the wine glasses. These are charms or bracelets for wine glasses- they go around the bottom of the stems of the wine glasses. Then, the guests know which glass is which by the "charm."

Most people bring wine, but it's not bad if you bring wine, because you can never have too much wine.
You could get another type of alcohol as well, like a bottle of Tequila, Brandy, or Imported Beer.
Depending on what type of party it is, you can bring a Keg, or a Case of Bourbon, or mabye a truckload of Jack Daniels whiskey.
Some people bring three diesel truckloads worth of crack or meth, or mabye a cargo plane full of pot.

Bringing a bottle of wine may not be the best idea, especially if the family does not approve of alcohol.
Flowers are always a nice idea.

If they approve of alcohol then wine is an excellent choice. If they are non-drinkers then a fruit and cheese basket or a nice flower arrangement works well. Also a Holiday candle would work nicely.

Why don't you ask then what you can bring?
If they don't tell you anything then I would go with wine. Just be sure they like wine - I'd ask your girl friend and be sure that they in fact like wine. You never know, they may prefer beer or whiskey.

i thought wine too but what about a box of chocolates as well as wine plus it cant be cheap wine but nothing to expensive
