Science wasn’t far enough along to have engineered this virus when it came about, in fact we probably couldn’t do it today. Hollywood has convinced the masses that we are much further along in genetics than we really are… so don’t pack your bags for that dinosaur amusement park either.

The scariest thing about AIDs is that it is a virus. Viruses often mutate into an airborne variety. This is so common that many scientists are convinced that it isn’t a question of IF this will happen but WHEN will it happen. So when it does finally mutate you will catch AIDs just like you catch a common cold! Airborne AIDs will sweep through the population just like the deadly influenza of the first World War. More people died from the flu during this time than from the combined casualties of the war! If we don’t find a cure soon AIDs might very well cause OUR extinction!

Firstly let me just say that your question does not make sense, but this is a common mistake. AIDS stands for Auto Immune Difiency Syndrome; if you have AIDS it means that your immune system isn't working correctly. HIV is a virus that infects your immune system and causes AIDS.

HIV was first discovered in the 80's. In the last 5 or so years, we have developed so far that a PhD student could in theory creat the polio virus in a lab. HOWEVER, HIV is not as simple as Polio. Its mutation rate is incredible and we are no way near being able to make it in a lab. Give us 15-20 years.

So there is no way that 20 years ago we could have done something that we cant do now.

Also, there is no chance of HIV mutating to become airborne. It is completely the wrong sort of virus to do that. If you want I can explain the molecular details of why it can't - just drop me an e-mail.

It is simply a virus that made the jump from animals to humans..happens all the time. People seem to have this conspiracy theory about HIV but not about Ebola, Marburg, Hanta, and the many other viruses that jumped species. I also think it is possible it has cropped up before, but because we could not "see" viruses like we can now nobody was aware of what they were dealing with, considering people with "AIDS" are killed by whatever disease comes along at the right time..cancer..TB..a common cold..influenza. 100 years ago it would have been inconceivable that people dying of all these different things had anything in common.

This virus was actually created for a higher purpose and had to be tested, first on animals in an enclosed environment, then humans in lab, then out in the world.

thinking about it, why do scientists and such say it didnt exist back then. back in days when condoms didnt even exist and certain people did lead promiscuous lives? isnt evolution constant? change in nature, change in peoples diets and life style adds to that as well. maybe our bodies are weaker now, maybe some little virus mutated accordingly, to the evolving world...
