Miss Big Shout at least gave a more honest response to the question. The real question is to count those so-called super-power arms manufacturing countries who did not supply Saddam weapons at the time. America holds the ace then in world politics and even its mere gestures then were taken seriously and in some cases with admiration. Everyone of these countries tow their lines and follow suit in supplying Saddam with weapons. But just like Khomeini had prophecised, he said Saddam and America had drank poison (meaning either deemed to be destoyed or fight each other) and as he said it has come to pass.

The Iraqi situation is a very big lesson for everybody to learn from. The super-powers should use their powers with descretion and opressive leaders should know that one day Natural Justice would catch up with them.

If you bother to look at Saddam's weapons inventory you would notice that the US is the only country that did not.

The closest you can come to supporting a claim that the US armed Saddam is the fact that we sold him some helicopters that were supposed to be used for crop dusting that were later converted to military use and some pistols that slipped past the US Commerce Departments trade controls.

The fact of the matter is that the claim that the US armed Saddam is one of those popular beliefs that is simply not true when you look into the matter.

You are all wrong! The Soviet Union supplied Saddam's army and airforce.
The Russians sold to Saddam T-55, T-62, and T-72 tanks, BMP and BRDM armored personnel carriers. Plus Katayusha mobile rocket launchers.
Aircraft the Russians provided MiG-21's, Hind and Hip helicopters.
Ground weapons were a mixed-bag AK-47's from the eastern bloc and a few K98k's World War 2 vintage. France sold to Saddam out-dated American-made Hawk anti-aircraft missile system. The Iraqi's had a 150-mm artillery that was South African made.
It was the Russians that aided and equipped Saddam's armed forces. I saw no American weapons or equipment.

but anywayz the ones who did arm him(n his pathetic ppl): ALL the arab countries, america, germany ( thats where the chemical weapons came from), france,...america even hit an airplane full of ppl n kids n women in 1997 with a vessel they had in the persian gulf, hunderds of ppl on that plane burned n there bodies fell into the persion gulf, some of them never found, n the punch line is that the american amry or some crap like that gave the men on that ship medels!...im an iranian btw, never saw the actual war but i can see what its done to us

US and its allies. Saddam claimed he could capture Tehran in 3 days. The war lasted 8 years.

u don't know..wow the whole world know..america ,bush gave iraq weapons to attack iran and in the same time he gave iran weapons to atack iraq...so he can take over other lands that belongs for arabs..and that a fact.....
