A complex question. On the one hand if you give them the right to have a licenses they must at least pass a test that shows they have the basic understanding of traffic laws which theoretically they would be better drivers.

On the other hand why should any government reward law breakers? These are people who came to the country with out the proper paper work. There are thousands of people wait for the paper work to come to the US why reward those he broke the law?

So I have to go with no.

No--anyone who wants the privilege of driving in this country should first have the privilege of being here legally. Remember--if you are driving illegally, then you probably aren't bothering to get the proper auto insurance either--which makes it worse for all the rest of us who do pay our proper dues to get behind the wheel. Why should we pay higher uninsured motorist premiums to protect ourselves against people driving with no insurance? I also think if someone is caught driving illegally because they are an illegal immigrant, that should be automatic grounds for immediate deportation. In fact, that should be the result of any crimes committed by a person while in the U.S. illegally. If you want to come to our shores, be good little boys and girls or we'll send you back where you came from. Why take on more problems? Harsh, yes, but I pay my rising taxes every year and I don't want the funds going to support anyone who doesn't have the legal right to be here.

No because you arent even supposed to be driving on U.S. roads in a car unless you have insurance, an international drivers license, and a VALID VISA!!! So basically giving those people a drivers license would allow them to be legit.

No they should not, they have no right to even be in this country and we are giving them more ID to be able to get more things from this nation. Its a travesty and a bastardization of our nations laws. They should not be given any more proof of residency,by a state government.
We have enough reasons right here as to why we shouldn't give illegal aliens drivers licenses

Here are just some of the negative impacts of illegal aliens on our nation .

overcrowded and under-funded schools
diseases
increased health care costs
degraded health care service
higher auto insurance premiums
poverty
lawlessness
social conflict
over-population
unemployment
lowered wages
vote fraud
increased crime
illegal drugs
environmental degradation
depletion of natural resources
loss of common language and culture
increased traffic congestion
higher taxes

Driver's licenses are tickets into the American mainstream. They allow residents to establish an identity and foothold into their communities. They help you open bank accounts, enter secure facilities, board planes -- and drive tractor-trailers carrying hazardous materials.

Let me ask a question... do you think we would be given a driver's license, free health care and be allowed to reap all sorts of benefits if we lived in another country illegally? I think not.

No I do not think they should be given a driver's license. For what? Aren't we just making them comfortable by offering more benefits every day without expecting them to become a citizen? How would they get insurance? Are we going to give that to them too? What next?

I cannot imagine how people who are present illegally in any nation would desire or expect driving privileges. I'd love for them to drive; just come to America LEGALLY.

Yes they should. They are here so deal with it. If one of them hit your car in a wreck wouldn't you want them to have insurance so their insurance can pay for the repair and not your's?

I say we give them a drivers license! When they show up to take the test and cannot produce any paperwork, ship them home for being illegal!
