I've read all the song lyrics and don't think so.

Many people have used the words "promised land" in their lyrics and not mean anything religious. Bruce Springsteen comes to mind. (He has a song titled "Promised Land" and it has nothing to do with Jesus - he's refering to freedom, opportunity, and success in America).

Besides, if someone were to talk about Jesus in song, why would they want to hide what they are talking about. It should be obvious (in my opinion) they are talking about Him otherwise anyone could interpret whatever they want it to mean.

In the Book of Kings,Elijah the Prophet is taken alive to Paradise in a fiery chariot, leaving his apprentice Elisha behind.
The song is about how Elijah had struggled so hard and was now going to find rest. This translated to the slaves of the south.Waiting for that day of rest also. It's all they had to look forward too.

no its talking about a chariot. jesus is not often confused with a chariot, unless your tripping on acid or something.
