Many people who don't believe are more serious scholars of religion than many believers, if only because they study religions beyond the one they were brought up in, and do so with a critical mind rather than just believing what they are told.
I study religion a great deal ( my undergrad degree is in philosophy with a consentration in religious and ethical issues,) and believe that the existance or non-existance of god is the most important question man faces. I'm sure that many others are in similar circumstances.
If you could convince me, great, but to do so you must make sense and actually address the concerns of the non-believer and spouting dogma without being willing to respond to questions about it is probably what gets most of the believers insulting responses.

Ok, I am a Christian. I don't think it is appropriate to post this. I mean, all this is gonna do is wrile people up. Secondly, if people don't wanna be preached at, don't preach at them. God says we should not coerce those into coming to Heaven, it should be a choice. In the same respect, we should not judge either. So chime down. Save that energy for something more productive.

i'm a Christian. I frequently want open boards mutually with this one, somewhat than boards frequented by ability of people of in basic terms one perception or philosophy. i % to pay attention from all factors. when I do flow to atheist boards, I handle my questions respectfully, and am actual searching for an answer. i do no longer proselytize, nor do I jam my non secular ideals down everybody's throat. i've got faith in treating others with admire. If i'm asking a extreme question, it has no longer something to do with in seek of interest and each thing to do with looking an answer.

I agree with andymc, it really is a cool topic.
Note:I didn't say I believed or not.
Besides, what about being all open minded and stuff, isn't that important?
I realize that most people opposing a point are closeminded, but geesh, gotta give people a chance right?

I don't hang out in religion and spirituality; I answer questions across the board as they pop up.
Now why do you feel the need to look down on those who disbelieve? Just go about the business of setting a good example and stop trying to convince others how holy you are.
Nah, that'd be Christlike. Never mind.

I am here because I am deeply concerned that the U.S. is on the wrong path, largely due to the rise in political power of religious fundamentalists.

Can't handle the truth, huh?
Why do Christians come here and ask questions if they didn't want the right answers?

We are fools who believe you can change.
Wait, why do you lump Buddhists in with believers? We are just as skeptical of your all powerful yet largely only vengeful god as anybody else.
