To cheer a person up in a Christmas card, point out a few blessings from God that they had this year. It could be their good health all year, a financial help they needed at the last minute, etc. Anything that will put a smile on their face would be good too, i.e. Dear Auntie, I enjoyed your favorite cat so much during my visits, etc. Just a mention of a blessing or something that brings a smile is all you need. Since it is written inside of a card, you do not want it to be too wordy.

If it is your own kin, you could write, I love you, I am thinking about you all the time, You mean so much to me, if you ever need anything just call on me. A lot of older people are very lonely and miss the warmth and love of their families. They like to be paid a lot of attention and in person visits are best. Good luck.

Talk about something that they do, or how you know them. Something like, "I look forward to seeing you at church, etc." They love having young people involved in their lives.

Hey you with the sad look in your eye why so down? Your have everything to happy about. Haven't you heard... along with gray hair comes wisdom ,splendor , knowledge, and beauty. I dont know about you but if i could trade places with someone it would be you so i could have my eyes gleaming with wisdom, so i could speak to people without blinded eyes, and most importantly so my heart and my soul could live in splendor. So I smile... a person so beautiful shouldn't look so sad.
With love,
(your name)
hope i solved your problem
