Hydrocodone + acetaminophen (vicodin) was first manufactured in the early 1920s by the German pharmaceutical company Knoll. I couldn't find an exact date (or even an exact year), but hopefully this will at least get you started.

The US patent office would disagree that it's not unique enough to be an invention. In any case, the 'availability' of Vicodin was a glorious day for our planet.
