I have adopted both of my full-breed pugs from rescues. They are WONDERFUL dogs. You can go to the petfinder.com website and search for pugs in your area. Rescues generally charge around $300. Petfinder provides a link for all reputable shelters, rescues, etc.
I LOVE my two pugs and wouldn't trade them for the world, but I hope you understand that pugs are VERY expensive dogs to keep. They require a LOT of care. Most likely they will need eye surgery or they will go blind. That costs a minimum of $1500. They also get respiratory infections a LOT and each vet visit is about a hundred dollars.
Also, pugs shed a LOT. . . . ALL THE TIME. . . . . If you want a dog that won't leave hair EVERYWHERE, don't get a pug.
Also, pugs are VERY people oriented dogs. You can NOT leave them at home alone because they will become very lonely and destroy things. Lastly, please remember they are NOT outdoor dogs at ALL. In the summertime, they have to be kept in the air conditioning because they are VERY prone to heat stroke and can die VERY easily.
A wonderful place to learn all the good and bad things about pugs is pugvillage.com.
I hope this helps!

Personally, I think the best place to "shop" for a dog is www. petfinder.com. You can enter your breed of choice and search the entire nation, or just your area, for a Pug needing a new home. All these dogs will already be neutered and up to date on all shots, and the rescue organizations will be able to tell you something about each dog's temperament, so you can specify that you have children and they'll make sure it will be good with the kids. Keep that in mind when looking at the adoption fee -- all those "startup" costs have already been taken care of.
If it's close enough, you can even set up a visit with the dog first, and many rescuers prefer you to do that anyway.
Good luck in your search!

Find a responsible breeder who will tell you about the breed, i.e shedding, any health issues. Talk to as many as possible _---------personally! Decide if you want a puppy or a full grown pug. Adoption could be because of a health problem that made the puppy unsaleable, or a retired breeder. Most rescue pugs will cost as much as a fair quality pug, but will probably be spayed or neutered and have received all shots. Pugs are excellent with children.

There are rescue groups everywhere for these breeds. Find a pug rescue on the net for your area and give one a home that needs love.

I would search Google and Petfinder for a local pug rescue. I tend to think that rescues are the ideal place for people to adopt animals. They spent a lot of time with their animals, and know their personalities, and will be able to help pair you up with a dog that's best suited to your lifestyle. The dogs are also spayed or neutered, and up to date on all their shots.
Good luck!

check your local rescue and shelters they should be able to help you but it will take quite a while due to the fact that you have to have a home inspection and fill out applications and agreements and expect to be investigated just as if you were adopting a child it takes a very long time and you are going to have to pay anywhere from 3-5 hundred dollars for the adoption fee. good luck and god bless and happy holidays.

www.petfinder.com is a good place to start, also call your area vets and ask if they know of any breeders or breed rescues. Humane society shelters usually keep lists of people looking for a specific breed and will call you if one comes in. Fun little dogs! Tons of personality and good with kids. A bit prone to eye and breathing problems, and dental disease too, because of the shape of their faces. They can snore loud enough to keep you up all night, so I'd reccomend a crate outside of the bedrooms for sleeping.

Check the classifieds in your paper or on line also check craigslist.com
The local pound would be a good place because he/she would be up to date on all his/her shots and treated for any medical condition it may have had. Plus its possible you would be saving his/her life.
