Very serious question here... I am a graduate student studying religion... Don't waste your time or mine with stupid answers... I am not trying to be offensive, so please do not misunderstand my question, just kindly explain to me why my logic does not work if you do not agree with my conclusion. Thank you in advance.

I have one question for Muslims. The Quran refers to 2 women, Eve and Mary. Mary is referenced as the Mother of God. If this is the case, then shouldn't Muslims refer to Jesus Christ as God, not simply a prophet? Furthermore, if this is an accurate understanding, then what role does Muhammed play if Christ already stated that He is the "Way, the truth, and the light. No man comes to the Father but through him?"

Like I said, I am looking for honest answers, not confrontation.

My reference is 3:45... there are a couple others like it

"When the angels said, "O' Mary! Verily, Allah gives you the glad tidings of a Word from Him, his name will be Emmanuel Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and in the Hereafter, and will be one of those who are near to Allah."

Emmanuel means "God with us."

Is this a matter of a bad translation of the Arabic or am I correct?

Thank you to those who are reading my question and answering it appropriately... To you others, perhaps your intolerance for others seeking to better understand your faith is one reason why the major faiths are at odds. God forbid I actually try to understand what others believe!

Unfortunately you are mis-informed.The Quran refers to Mary/Miriam as the mother of Jesus/Isa (Al-Mashee/Christ/Messiah).

The Quran states that God is not begotten,God is self sufficient, He doesnt have a beginning or an end, He is everlasting/eternal.

EDIT: In the past, everytime a prophet was appointed, that prophet was th way to God.Meaning that prophet should be followed until the next prophet comes and embrace the previous prophets.
Its like when you advance to the next grade every year. The teachers continue the previous teachers' work. You should follow that teacher coz the work is been made clearer and more detailed to understand.

EDIT: [3:45] The angels said, "O Mary, GOD gives you good news: a Word from Him whose name is `The Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary. He will be prominent in this life and in the Hereafter, and one of those closest to Me.'

tHAT IS WHAT THE VERSE SAYS.It does not say Immanuel!

The "Immanuel-Prophecy" in Isaiah was not a prophecy about Jesus. The name was given to a woman's son as a sign to king Ahaz that God is with them. And that child was definitly not God.

Mary is the mum of Jesus(Jesus, the one that existed earlier than the arena from eternitity being ONE with the Father and grew to become flesh and used to be right here on the planet a short while of 33 years). His mom, at the same time on the planet used to be Mary, who used to be a human such as you and me and isn't divine or sinless like Jesus. Mary isn't to be worshipped to or prayed to or has no powers. The Catholic church does a few pagan matters so that it will be performed away with whilst Jesus comes again. Mary isn't the Mother of God within the bible, now not the spouse of God, now not the Mother of all dwelling beings.....She used to be a delegated vessel who had kids afterwards and is with all of the different saints who died in Jesus and can come up once more in glory.

Your answers are in the Quran itself, as there is an entire Sura dedicated to Mary -- Sura 19-(Maryam)

Also, the announcement to Mary from the angel that she would birth a son is in sura 3:32-52

3:45 "Oh Mary! Allah gives you good news of a Word from him: Son of Mary, his name will be Messiah (Christ)
his name will be Isa (Jesus)- held in honor in this world and the Hereafter and of the company of those NEAREST to Allah"

3:49 And Allah will appoint him a messenger to the children of Israel

It goes on to explain that Jesus (pbuh) was sent to spread the message that God exsists, and the Gospel that is spoken of is the Message God put in the mouth of Christ-- not what was written by his disciples.

It never says Mary was the mother of God, but that she was a woman chosen for her pious nature and purity above all nations, to give birth to a messenger of God- to guide the people of Israel who had gone astray.

The Quran doesn't try to disprove the previous profits like Moses and Jesus it embraces them and lists Muhammad as the last profit to come. The idea is that in the beginning Moses said people had to live a certain way and people believed for a while but when there belief started to fade they were sent Jesus. However after Jesus the Arab world was still in the dark and Muhammad was there profit. He is not THE profit but instead the last profit to show himself. Now you make a good argument as far as Mary but I am afraid I can't help you there.

Read the Quran again..God is ONE for us..And we believe that Jesus was a only prophet like Mohammed (PBUH).We certainly don't believe Jesus is the son of God. I'm repeating it : God is ONE for us..You can't know better from Muslims.

God sent prophets to the bad societies. You know, the societies which haven't got science, development and the societies who believe to the idols for them (for example sun)..God sent Mohammed to Arabia..Why?To make the people good.To make the people believe in God, not to the idols..

And my opinion : Bible was changed so it doesn't reflect the truths. Becuase Quran and Bible contradict. But they shouldn't.

PS: Mary is Jesus's mother but Jesus's father isn't God.Jesus's birth was a predestined thing.

It has never been mentioned in the Quran that Mariam is the mother of GOD. it could be lack of understanding on your behalf. But no where in the Quran has it been the case where Mariam is referred to as mother of god.
We muslim view Mariam as a very pious woman whom Allah has chosen to be the mother of a miraculously conceived prophet. If Allah was able to create Adam without any parents, so it is very true that he simply can create a person without a father.
Mariam and Jesus never were presented as divine in the Quran. they were described as pious humans whom Allah has blessed and chosen to contribute to the goodness of mankind.
hope that helps. Good Luck.

no. Islam clearly cays that Allah was never born, nor He will ever die. He Does not have a father, mother, brother, sister, Uncle or Aunt.
So, Mary is not the Mother of God (according to the Quran)
Please check yr sources of information again.

I'm curious to know where the Quran says that. But I agree with your train of thought if it does in fact say that.
