A friend of mine has BDD (i'm assuming you mean body dysmorphic disorder?!) She has suffered for 4 years roughly and continues to suffer although not as bad as she did. It takes a lot of time and encouragement. I don't think she will ever be free of her demons altogether but she is managing to learn how to live with it through seeing a very good counsellor and having the support of her close friends and family. GPs can be a bit off-putting as they see this disorder as not a medical one and can therefore just fob you off. It can be best to see a counsellor privately, but most importantly have people who care about them around and available.

:))
Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is a mental disorder, which involves a disturbed body image. It is generally diagnosed of those who are extremely critical of their physique or self image, despite the fact there may be no noticeable disfigurement or defect.

I think you should take some counseling. It shouldn't be hard to recover from BDD. You just have to find a way to improve the image about yourself.

I am not sure about recovery but acceptance that a person has this condition is half the battle. Counselling is always recommended if causing any distress. Good Luck to you or whoever is affected. xx
