About 2 yrs ago my husband brought home 2 Jack Russells. I have 2 female Labs I have had them for 8 yrs. So I do not mind taking care of them, but I am expected to take care of his dogs as well. Please keep in mind that he has never took care of my Labs. I have to do everything with the dogs and the kids. I can let my dogs run in the yard without a problem his dogs willl run off if they are not on a leash. He will not even take them out for the bathroom. If I do not take them out he puts them in the kitchen and lets them use the bathroom in my kitchen and makes me clean up after them!!! I have to feed and water them as well. These Jack Russells have destroyed our couch, and most of my kids toys, They have pulled chunck out of the carpet. Even when the Labs were pups they didn't do anything like this. The wosre thing my Labs ever did was chew up one of my running shoes. My husband gets mad if I talk about selling his dogs . They dogs are worse than my 3 kids What should I do?

Tell him that you have had enough. Either he begins to help out with the home, children AND the dogs! If he says no, tell him you will need to ease your burden, and find new homes for his two Jack Russel's (the please, call a jack russel rescue!)..
Those little angels need alot of attention, and are very active, or so I have heard . Maybe your hubby would be interested in doing agility courses with them. He would get to meet new people, enjoy his dogs, and become more responsible.
That breed is not for everyone, so don't feel badly. Just be honest with your husband. Square your shoulders, straighten yourself, and look the man straight in the eye..

Okay. Don't take it out on the poor JRTs...get rid of your husband. JRTs are not bad dogs. They are highly intelligent and energetic. If they do not receive enough exercise and attention they will exhibit the type of behavior you describe out of boredom. I doubt you are going to get rid of your husband, so my advice is to try to convince him to go for daily walks with the dogs. Exercise is good for us all, so why not suggest doing it together. I walk my JRT for an hour a day and play ball with him for 20 - 30 minutes at a time, and that typically chills him out. He is home alone for about 9 hours a day. By the time I get home he is raring to go. JRTs aren't for everyone, but like kids they didn't asked to be in their current situation. I have said this time and time again...a tired jack is a happy jack. Perhaps he should have done some research before aquiring these dogs. Owning a dog is a HUGE responsibility. It's not something that should be taken lightly. If he is that lazy with your dogs how is he with the kids? Worse case scenario if you get rid of the dogs...please take the time to find good homes for them. Be selective. There are many sick and twisted people out there who would do some very mean things to these JRTs.

try this one rent yourself a place for a week . even if it is just a hotel room . find out if they take dogs . Take just your dogs and leave him a note and say now honey i need a vacation ,I left your dogs with you cause i know you would be lonely without them". and then leave his j.r.s in the kitchen and go . see how he likes having to clean up after them maybe when you come home those 2 will be gone and there will be money in his pocket. He is treating you like a personal kennel assistant . Dont let him get away with this .good luck and god bless and happy holidays.

tell him that 4 dogs is just too much, and since he is not helping out that you are taking full responsibility for the dogs and get rid of them, then use the money to take ourself out for a night at the spa or wherever you want to go.

either that or ditch the rotten husband and leave him with the jacks.

Get rid of the dogs or get rid of the husband. And DO NOT clean up after his dogs anymore, even if that means there's poop in your kitchen for days. Or, better yet, arrange for a one-week vacation for yourself, don't tell him you are going, just go. Maybe when he has to do "woman's work" himself he will realize what hard work it REALLY is, get off his lazy *** and pitch in and help a little more.

You and your husband are one. You are supposed to help your husband, and your husband should help you. Negotiate with him and don't blame him for the dogs. Instead, try to explain to him about the two Jack Russells. Tell him how you feel and that it's also his responsibility to take care of the dogs. Good luck.

Convert the dogs to outside dogs. Put them in a pen outside and keep them there so that they do not destroy your house.

From what you have written, all that he objects to is selling them. He evidently does not pay any attention to them. Make them yard dogs. If they annoy the neighbors, let them talk to him.

The next step is not to sell them. Give them away or board them at a kennel at his expense. Money talks.

give him an ultimatum either he starts taking care of the dogs or the next time he comes home from work they will be gone, remind him he is not setting a good example to your children about responsibility.
