Depression very well could be playing a part in your sleep. You are having difficulty getting to sleep, and once you get to sleep, and it is time to get up, you can't wake up (probably due to your not getting enough sleep in the first place, as well as depression).
I would start taking St. John's Wort which helps depression. Also, try taking vitamin B, which helps to give you more energy. If you don't start feeling better within a couple of weeks, definitely go see a doctor. A doctor can prescribe an antidepressant which may work better for you than St. John's Wort, and he can also put you on a sleeping aid, which you can take until your sleep patterns get more regulated.
Good luck!

have you ever heard of the biological clock?
our body has some sort of "clock" so to speak.
you might have noticed that some people automatically wake up at a certain hour, even if they don't use any alarm clocks.
maybe you got used to sleeping and waking up late.
You need to have your body adjust to this new time you want.
In our psychology class, we were told that you should try your best sleeping and waking up at your chosen times for 2 weeks.
For example, for 2 weeks try to go to bed at exactly 12 and not 30 minutes later. You can try drinking warm milk for you to get a bit sleepy. Then set your alarm at 6 am or whatever time you want, and set it to the its highest possible volume. Place the alarm clock somewhere far from you wherein you have to stand up to shut it up. I always do this coz if it's right beside me, i can easily reach out my arm then turn it off and then doze off.
I hope I helped

Since you *can* sleep, I don't know if this is a sleeping disorder. Maybe you spent too much time awake before, looking for a job or something (since you said you lost your business), so your biorhythm has now changed. Try taking some pills in the first 2 nights. After this, things might get back to normal.
Good luck!

try drinking a big glass of water before you go to bed. once up hit the shower this will keep you awake. once you start to wake up earlier you will be able to go to sleep easier. you don't need a doctor you just need to adjust your inner clock
