Your present TV will never be able to display an HD image, and don't bother trying to find some Heathkit-type of fix to do so because it's probably not worth the time or effort.

Now, if you're talking about receiving a digital (HDTV or SDTV) signal and displaying it on your regular TV, you can purchase a digital receiver and plug it into your regular TV. You won't get an HD image, but at least you'll get programming available from that digital signal. Not just the regular channels, but also the alternate programming the local stations are providing (24 hr weather, alternate PBS programming, etc).

Your question should be can I get a HDTV picuture on my tv in HD? The answer is not totally a yes or no answer but it kinda depends on if you have a HDTV to begin with or a compatable tv for getting that type of picture or sound. That depends on if you get HD satellite or cable or over the air HD and if you have a reciever box to change the HD signals over to component, copossite or s video or coax to connect to said tv. Good luck with all that.
