As long as SHE is not having sex, no, there is nothing wrong with a 17 year old girl to have a boyfriend. I would really hope the boyfriend is Christian too.

"Catholic Christian" is an oxymoron.

You are either one or the other. Many Catholics become Christians because they don't truly understand what Catholicism teaches, and have received the heavenly gift of grace by faith quite apart from what is taught by their Catholic hierarchy.

In John 10:27 Jesus said "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me" KJV

If you are in the Catholic religion and have heard Christ's voice, follow him solely and leave any institution or man who would pervert your faith.

As far as the boyfriend goes, you are under the authority of your father until you are married. Seek his approval.

If you're not preparing yourself for marriage to this person, then being a student & whether you are lonely or not, are not players in this. You're only pushing yourself to see how far you can go, and it's pointless. Friends yes, intimacy when you're ready to make things permanent. BTW religion isn't a part of this, it's just common sense.

It all depends. If her parents are not against it and if she is not having sex before marriage then there isn't anything wrong with it as long as her boyfriend is also a Christian and they are committed to remaining sexually pure until marriage. Hopefully they are supporting each other in their faith and looking ahead to getting married. As it is written in God's word:

1 Corinthians 7:2 But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. 3The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 5Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

Yes of course. He needs to be a Christian too though. Just try not to be immoral - God is watching.
