In the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, the Book of Nehemiah contains 52, 707 characters, including punctuation and verse numbers, but no spaces.
If you include spaces it contains 64,550 characters.
Other translations will vary.
I copied the entire Book and pasted into a Word Document and did a Word Count, which also provided the information above.
Why did you want to know this?

There are 10,051 words and 57,868 characters (with spaces). As to how many people there may be, there is no way to determine this due to the crowds of 'singers', 'foreigners' and 'priests' - all of which are unnamed.
