If you are less than 40, my suggestion would be to start with 6 km/hour & increase to 10Km/hour over a period of 3 months. make sure to have healthy breakfast . lunch u can have chappathi with a boiled vegetable.dinner can be 2 to 3 chappathi.i am sure if you follow this 3 months u would have lost 6 to 8 Kgs.

Hey there. You can safely lose about 8 pounds a month. But that means actually making a real change in your diet, a change that will sustain you for life. you don't want to be ill prepared for life, do you? Sure you can lose 30 pounds on a shake diet, but can you drink shakes forever? No. So, be serious about the food, and the intake. Really, you need about an hour to work out. Stretches for ten minutes, jogging, some weights, cool down etc. I think if you did 30-45 of the running and walking, then did 15 of some weights, then you'll be good.

Jogging at all is good exercise...go at the speed you are comfortable with...bump it up when you can...the more you jog the further and/or faster you will be able to go...

I started originally walking about a 20 min mile...now I can walk/jog a mile in about 11:30 and am working to improve that...
.
Whatever cardio activity you can do will burn calories and help you lose weight...do the best you can do..

Whatever speed gets you into your target heart zone and keeps you there.

While there are other formulas, the rule-of-thumb that many use is 220 - your age. Then multiply that number by .65 and again by .85. Your target heart range would be between those two numbers.

To monitor your heart range, you should consider buying a heart monitor. Polar puts out one, but there are many brands. They aren't terribly expensive but invaluable for keeping yourself at the right exercise pace for you.

I would think your heart rate would have more to do with it than speed. Each persons heart rate is different and the more out of shape you are the lower you want to keep it during workouts. If you are in decent shape you can get higher. I would say 120-140 would be a good target heart rate to shoot for.

Hi Raseema? So u want to jog for reducing ur weight & u
want to know if u jog for 45mts/day at a speed of 3Km/hr is enough.
Honestly speaking, reducing weight is a long time struggle
& even if u succeed in reducing weight, it is more difficult
to maintain it. In fact, its a life time struggle. On the basis
of my long time experience, I give u a perfect gift & if u
accept it, I guarantee u,you can definitely succeed.
I do everyday briskwalking at a speed of 100meters/per
minute, which means six kms per hr. If u jog at a speed of 3km/hr, it is not justifiable. No doubt, you walk/jog
with any speed, it has definitely health benefits but since
u want to reduce weight, u hv to increase speed but please listen to me, if you have never done exercise in the
past, better consult ur physician before u start any exercise. Once everything is okay, jump start as under:
Start jogging(if u r youngman) with 5 to 10 mts initially
& increase time. As far as speed is concerned, while
jogging, if you can easily speak, it means u r within limit
but if no, reduce speed. Regarding heart-rate, if need be,
u can consider what my another friend Kathy_is_ has mentioned, bcz it is as per sports recommendations
but in general, as long as you can speak while jogging, it
is okay irrespective of speed. Go on increasing ur speed
& time slowly. 45mts a day are enough but more the
better. I want to add here more that even if you jog for
two hours a day but do not control ur eating, it is impossible to reduce weight. Exercise & eating both go
parallel, if u really want to reduce weight. Now most imp.
is what to eat, this is very imp question. My slogon is
eat only when u r hungry and eat slowly as by eating slowly u wl eat less by 10 to 15%. Further, eat only
low carbohydrates, low calories, low fat. If u adopt a diet
of low glycemic index, you need not to worry about all
above. I give u a small list of low glycemic index food:
Apple, banana, cherries, grapefruit, orange, asparagus,
broccoli, celery, lettuce, tomotto, peas, carrots, brown rice, frosted flakes, oatmeal, rice bran, whole wheat bread, multigrain, vermicelli, wholewheat spaghetti, nuts
& seeds, whole milk, lowfat icecream, pudding. Try to
eat raw vegetables, if possible & if not, stir-fry in a minimum quantity of good oil, e.g. olive oil, sun flower, canola, etc. It does not mean, u cannot eatdrink any other item. Definitely u can but within limit. Don't take more than 1800 calories a day until u r very very active man and are going regularly out for long time for which u have to take many many steps. 3Km/hr in the beginning is okay but frankly, not enough if u want to reduce ur weight on long time but reducing weight and maintaining is a long time job. If u don't control food and also avoid exercise, weight would come back in a short time without fail. If u adopt my package of eat only when hungry and eat only low fat, low calorie & low carbohydrates (or low glycemic index food) with jogging regularly, u can positively reduce weight & can maintain too. Don't think reducing weight and maintaining is easy. This really requires sincere motivation. If you can do, then just jump start with jogging at ur speed with the food package but repeating, must consult ur doctor before u go ahead for jogging, etc. Last but not the least, don't reduce weight quickly bcz such type of therapy, for which people take help of alternative treatments, firstly, are not proven ones and secondly, may hv side effects also. Go on your goal slowly and u will succeed. Don't reduce more than 2 kg a month. Slow & steady race is the best. May God bless u & fulfill ur sincere desire to reduce ur weight. Bye. Yong Kang
