Like...Navy Blue is supuh dark, but it's blue. But, the fact that it's almost black almost makes it a shade. BUT IT'S BLUE!!! Is it a color or a shade? I must know, my life depends on it.

Navy blue is the colour. The shading would be the lightness or darkness of it, and whatever underlying colours may show. As in (your own observation) navy blue that has a lot of black in it is a SHADE of navy blue.

This may sound confusing, but navy blue is a color with a dark shade. It's kinda both.
