i am living in china and they have plenty of hair products(straightening, water, silk sprays etc) but no heat protection for use with hair straightening irons.

does anyone know what other product i can use? are there any alternatives?

Any bottle of leave in conditioner, usually comes in a spray, that's pretty much all a heat protecter is anyway.

buy some Smooth Down Heat Glide by Redken. It has a thermal protectant in it (which by the way is not the same as a leave in conditioner. let me make it clear to you though, the flat iron will eventually fry your hair to oblivion, thermal protectant or no. it is by far the most damaging styling tool ever.

You can use hair serum after using the hair iron. But the preferred mode is not to use the hair iron as it's heat is very direct and damaging for your hair. You may want to use a hair brush and blow with the hair dryer instead.

i use a straightening iron everyday (frizzy out of control hair), i use redken smooth down shampoo, cond. and also there smoothdown heat glide before i straightnen it.
its expencive but my hair has goten to where i dont have as much problem out of it so its worth the price
