Can vaasthu also be a reason for not getting started because money and other general constraints are not affecting me.

Before you demolish your old house, try to consult first an Architect.
He knows technically if you can use the exixting foundations, columns and beams for the new design of your house. I'm sure you have big savings.... If you dont mind I'm an A rchitect by profession...maybe I can help...
