In the winter, I love soup. A quick and easy soup is re-fried bean soup.
Saute a chopped onion, add some chopped celery about half-way through the sauteing of the onion, and then put in the can of re-fried beans.
(Don't like chopping onions or celery? Use a can of condensed cream of celery soup instead.)
Turn the heat down or off while you do this next step. Stir the bean/saute mix a little to break up the solid pack beans, add a can of water, slowly stirring to incorporate it into the beans. At this point, you can add any seasonings you like...such as chili powder, garlic powder, oregano, salt-to-taste, etc.
Then decide if the soup is the thickness you like. Too thick, add more water. or milk if you think you'd like creamed bean soup. Turn up the heat and enjoy your hearty soup.
For a different take on the same soup base, add a can of chopped tomatoes, or tomato juice, or V-8...get the idea? Even a can of creamed corn or whole kernel corn would make a deliciously different soup.
Now you've made me hungry....

I'm hungry as well, but I'll have to wait to get home an have my lunch, cause I hate this fast food they sell here.
Oh, I'm having sarma for lunch (ground beef wrapped in sauerkraut leaves, it's supposed to be cooked for at least 6 hours), I would say it's like the best winter dish.
