i have my own theories, id just like to know what other people think. also, if you have ever said it, why, and why not just say what you mean?

im noticin a lot of women putting something like 'letting you down without hurting you'. y'know it would be a lot better if you just said why, not a meaningless staement like 'too nice'. i understand that part, but why not just tell the truth? actual meanings only please.

Some girls genuinely mean this. They don't want a nice guy, because nice men bring out the worst in some women.
This sounds strange, but I have friends who are lovely girls, but when they go out with 'nice' guys they turn into demanding dragons. They feel the need to push the mans niceness to breaking point. Its like a test, how much will they put up with. Girls in general do not like men that will be nice for the sake of being nice. if we say something totally stupid laugh at us and if we seem to be asking you to do things we could do for ourselves, say bugger off, you lazy cow!
Its simple, treat a women like a princess and that is exactly what you will get, a spoilt little princess, that has to get her own way.
Nice people sometimes make people feel guilty for the way they are. They think, they think i'm nice but when they find out what i'm really like they will dump me. The nasty blokes you can garantee that you will always have the moral high ground! And if he does something nice, its more special, it means more.
Personally I like nice guys, although God does it hurt more when you get messed around by a nice guy. So if you have a reputation for being Mr Nice, make sure you keep up your side of the bargain!
Another theory is that she didn't know how to let you down gently so she said this, in which case you chose the wrong kind of girl to ask out.

Its a sad fact of life, but a lot of women do like the bad boys out there! I think they like the fun, but they never last and these are usually the ones who dont settle down for ages, by which time you'l have moved on a found a nice women!!!

She means that she cant think of a genuine reason to dump you as you probably havent done anything wrong so she is going to make out like she is an utter b***h and isnt worthy of you. truth is she already has some shaven headed Burberry baseball cap clad idiot waiting in the wings. Hes a complete ba****d but he excites in a way that you cant. I would forget about it mate. There is no coming back from that one.

I usually mean that he is boring and agrees with everything I say or do. He is too much of a gentleman, and while I rate honour and respect VERY highly, I don't want it to be at the expense of a personality and bit of individual thought and opinion, or that the guy will never refuse to do anything for me, or not take a chance with anything for fear of what might be.

It is just a subtle way of saying that you are really a nice guy / girl, but No thank you - You are not my type.
I have said it to someone who I really did like, but who wanted something more. I did not want to hurt his feelings by saying No Thanks, so gave him this line as a kinda brush off.
Sometimes, we have to be a Little less honest, in order not to hurt people who like us. In general, I like to say what I mean, but it is not always a "nice" way of putting people off. Subtlety is a little less cruel than No!

it means u don`t swear enough, u buy too many rounds down the pub, she doesn`t like u opening doors for her, she wants to do ALL the housework, u don`t insult her enough, u need to break wind more (including under the duvet), she wants to pay her way all the time, doesn`t want u buying her presents, she wants u to give up ur job so she can provide for u, she wants to do ALL the cooking, ur clothes aren`t dirty enough, u wash too often etc. etc. if i were u i`d take notice of her! hope that helped :)

I believe its a polite way of saying she's not interested. She likes you but not like that! She's saying that to let you down gently and not hurt your feelings! Trust me, i've said it! She probably does genuienly care about your feelings otherwise she wouldn't of even given an excuse!
