Your best bet is to avoid the larger chain stores and go to a local high street shop owned by a local person. They are much more likely to have sofas in stock that they can deliver to you because they will be less busy. If it is the actual delivery wihch is the problem then why not see if you can pick it up yourself - hire a van or man and van for a couple of hours.

Ask yourself if you really need it. If it is to replace one you already have, buy a couple of cheap throws to tide you over the Christmas spillage season. You can then take your time and get one in the sales in January.
Alternatively, you could get one from the charity outlets and gift it back when your new one arrives. You may also be able to lease one for the Christmas period.

Support your neighbors and the local economy by purchasing one at the local furniture store. Floor samples in home-grown stores rarely stay on the floor more than a month and only a limited few folks sit on them. You can take it home the day you buy it!

Where do you live? On the east coast Raymour and Flanigan will deliver it in 3 days. Or try on line shopping and see what you can come up with.

now, December 13th, i don't think even God can deliver a sofa by Christmas.
you'll probably have to shop locally and haul it yourself.
