I've never been to New York City, but I've read a little about the subway system because I like trains. From what I've read, the current system is horrendously inadequate but the only talk of upgrading is the 2nd Ave line. I welcome any comments about the size, capacity, utilization, and so on about the subway system.

It would be nice to clean it, to start off with!
The trains should be updated, the internal communication system need to be introduced. Information should be available on when a new shuttle should be expected on each line.

Many things work well - whatever upgrade should make sure not to touch what is working! ticketing, speed, network...

Most of the signals are old, especially on the L train (70 years)

Not enough handicap accessibility

I know they plan on going automated, but that will take 5 plus years.

They should install Sauna Cars for a more relaxing commute.
