It is a lot more proper than taking your shoes off in public while wearing nothing,as some of these tacky women do.

Who wants to look at a pair of dusty bare feet, and painted toes, with dust and dirt between them because some lazy women has been running around all day in high heeled sandals collecting dirt in her toes which are hanging out the front of the sandals, and now her feet hurt, because she is not wearing stockings and the friction of the leather on her skin makers her feet swell.

Everybody's feet hurt after walking all day in heels, but it is a lot more ladylike to remove your shoes while wearing stockings than to expose your stinky bare feet, with dust between your toes.

I don't think ill of someone who does. I'd rather walk around in my stockings than have blisters and mutilated feet when I'm 80 from wearing cute but uncomfortable shoes all my life. Plus I have wide feet, and they're hard to fit. Just keep the hose or socks on. If you're in your house then WHO CARES IT'S YOUR HOUSE! Some people think it's more proper to take your shoes off when you go to someone else's house. Who knows.

But, I'm one of those people that hates wearing shoes.

I take my high heels and pantyhose off in public all the time, if someone doesn't like it then they don't have to look, but most of the time both women and men are so turned on by it, they totally enjoy it, and sometimes I will leave my worn pantyhose there for some lucky person to take home and enjoy all my sexual scents.

It is EXACTLY the same as if a man takes his shoes off in public, although he is wearing socks. So what do you think about that?

May not be "proper" but if you are with friends, and not trying to impress anyone, then SO WHAT. LOL More important things to worry about in life.

Technically no! But some of these rules were long long long ago. Particularly when women did NOT work and have careers. I'd say if you sitting waiting for a bus or train and your feet need relief. Then Yes why NOT. But to jump on the dance floor or sopmething. It seems a bit tacky!

Only if, say, the heel breaks. That can be dangerous! But otherwise, no. Make sure the insides are padded nice and cushy before going anywhere in them. Some people can't really wear heels too often, maybe knee or foot problems, and they should maybe opt for a nice flat instead.

If you are talking "etiquette", then it is never appropriate to remove shoes out of one's home... not when visiting, not during weddings (!!!! beurk), not if you wear socks, stockings, or any other feet implements, not if your shoes hurt - when buying shoes, you are supposed to try them to make sure they fit AND they are comfortable!!!

However, it is not because it isn't proper, that it isn't done. Nowadays most people do - and even sometimes when visiting someone's home you are requested to do so!!! It would be easier however if you know you may want to take off your shoes to take an alternative inside pair in your purse.

Not wearing shoes in public is generally not "proper". But there are worse things.

No, but so many do. Especially young women. At my son's Prom last year I witnessed nearly every formally dressed girl without her shoes on.
