If you do not have the code in any manual, you will have to get it from VW. Pull the radio and there is a stick on the back. Write down the code and get your VIN. Call a Stealership's service department and ask them for the code. They should give it to you as they can look up your VIN and see the radio number is the same. There should be NO charge for this. If they refuse, call another dealership.

The code will be a 4 digit number. You have to enter the code correctly and the radio will turn on. If you enter it incorrectly 2 times, it locks the radio out for an hour. Be sure to ask the correct sequence to enter the code from the stealership if it's not in the manual. Usually it's hit the mode and scan button together and you will see 1000 appear on the screen. On other VW radio's, it's turn it on and the 1000 will appear. Hit the first preset button to increase the number to the codes first number, the 2nd button for the 2nd numer, etc. If your radio does not come on immediately, you have to know which button to press (it may be the right > on the seek button).

Good luck

okay... Like each and anybody suggested. First examine the guide. search for a card, or small sticky label. this is the position it each and every so often must be. If that doesn't artwork there is a few thing you could try. some fashions and years of VWs had the code "hidden" interior the trunk of the vehicle, or more advantageous precisely interior the properly for the spare tire. that is going to be a sticky label with the code on it. search for it. If not some thing works try the stealership.

I know that there is a unique code for each radio, If you don't have it, you will need to go back to the VW garage to get this again...
It happens to alot of cars when the battery is changed and is quite annoying. They don't seem to have memory to keep the settings.
Hope it works out for you..

check the manual that came with your car. if you have the original radio manual, the code may be printed on it or written in by the previous owner. you will need the model number / serial number of your radio to get the code from your car dealer. there are also sites that can tell you the code but they charge about a tenner. just google radio unblocking codes

iyou can do this manually.
check your stereo wiring for a fuse on the positive cable [red] wire to your stereo.
if it is blown you can either repair ir or replace [your option].
if you want to you can try hooking it up [direct] for testing only.
if it works then replace the fuse then you are good to go.
you do not need a code for your stereo. the stereo is always optional.
