The bible was penned by in excess of 50 authors over a period in excess of 1000 years. Most of the authors did not know each other, yet ALL agree. Quite a feat considering that two intelligent people watching the same event from the same position usually cannot agree on what happened.

Many religions of the world do take drugs in the past and in modern day.
The indians want peyote to be legalized
the israelites used a form of canibus in one kind of medicine that was dictated by God.
Even the incense in the temple Might have been laced with some kinds of narcotic. but that is a theory. For a prophet later declared that the temple is POLUTED.
It is for the use of man to have drugs for medicinal purposes. It has always been illegal and a corruption of the body and mind to Use Drugs for recreational purposes, or to impose a drug for the sake of wickedness on people that are not willing.

it is well know that lead was a factor in a lot of strange behaviours back then ....
it is documented that this was one of the reasons for the fall of the Roman empire
but although that is a fact ...
we cant say it was true for everyone at that time
