I am considering having my remaining teeth removed and replaced with dentures. I would like to hear from others who have actually done just that.

Well it's nice to actually chew and eat foods (hot and cold) without having pain from bad teeth.

I had to have all my teeth pulled 2 weeks ago and got dentures. Best thing I ever did. No more pain or eating on one side of the mouth, now I can eat food that i used to be unable to eat-like bite into a cookie. My dentures were a little uncomfortable at first-feels like your mouth is "full", but that wore off after about a week. I also had some discomfort from the upper denture-I had to have the back trimmed a little because it was causing me to gag. There is some soreness from the upper denture rubbing one side of my mouth, but my dentist is working on correcting that. I have gone back a few times for more "trims" which my dentist tells me is not unusual. All in all it's been a good experience and I love being able to eat what I want and smile again.

It is no picnic but if it is necessary to restore your health and appearance then do it. The best advice I can give is to remain positive. Also seek a dentist that is highly skilled in denture construction.

Also be sure to have realistic expectations, natural healthy teeth would be best but dentures beat no teeth.

My husband wears upper and lower dentures and loves them. He had a partial. It kept rubbing against his natural teeth causing him to continually have the others filled. He got disgusted had the remainders removed and replaced with a full lower plate. No more problems. Natural is not always the best plus he saved dental visits and $$$.

if your remaining teeth is still ok, why are going to remove it. Natural teeth is still the best. and it can give additional support for your dentures
