Because their genes tells them they need to mooch off others, uselessness is all they'll ever know...

What a sweeping statement! This is 2006 not the 1940's! Plenty of women "amount" to something, I for one am 36, have a career in law with great prospects and am currently single and loving it! Some women, however, are happy to be housewives. I think a lot of it is to do with their upbringing. Also, looking after the house and children is not a case of "never amounting to anything"! You should re-word your question to "Why do SOME women love being housewives,,,etc".

Think about how much it would cost for you to hire someone to pick up after you, bear your children, clean your house, etc. and then tell yourself that person has hasn't amounted to anything. You can't generalise an entire gender - not all women love being housewives, just like not all men want to be the breadwinner. Perhaps you should ask Santa for a book on sociology for Christmas.

Only a caveman would ask such an absurd question like this. I for one am a full time mom of three kids, ages 5, 4, and 2. Cleaning up after them and my house is a full time job in and of itself. I am also a full time college student, taking 12-14 credit hours a semester. Its hard work, I look at it as though if I had I job, I'd be paying daycare for my 4 year old and my 2 year old and I'd end up making about 1.50 (USD) an hour. What a waste of my time to be bringing home only 50 dollars a week.
That being said, grow up or stay in the cave.

im a 27 year old female doctor. Working long hour in a busy A&E department in East London.
I have just finished a week of nights at the hospital and am on a 1 week leave period. I live with my parents, and they've both gone away for 2 weeks.
Looking after the house, and doing all the housework, is much harder than working! My daily chores include:
Putting out the rubbish
Loading the dish washer
Washing machine
Hanging out to dry
Cleaning
I find work easier anyday! So whoever says being a housewife amounts to nothing is a ****!

Sometimes it is the way some women were raised. I'm 25, my mom was raised to work for what she had, But her mother was raised to be a good housewife and take care of the kids.
It depends on the generation.
While some women would rather stay home with thier kids ( me being one of them) But knowing that I have to work to get by.
I don't ever think that housewives amount to nothing. I think that's a ignorant statement.

Imagine this idiot thinks that being a housewife equates never amounting to anything. There are many people (male and female) who after getting their degrees decide to stay home. What matters to them most is being able to stay home and take care of house and kids. At least they can afford to do so. I'm in medical school myself, and I look forward to getting into the world of work, but if I will be able to afford to stay home to look after my future children, I'll more than do it. At the end of the day, I'd still be a licensed doctor, and I'd have a marketable skill.
However, that's not to say that people who don't have a marketable skill never amounted to anything. You try staying home with 2 kids all day and cooking and cleaning... You'll see how hard that is! It will teach you about finances, budgeting, time management, patience, efficiency, and a whole host of other qualities...

I guess it's all about perspective. If I were a woman and had the choice of sitting in a booth at the mall selling lotto tickets all day for minimum wage, or staying home and ensuring that my kids were well brought up i think i'd choose the latter.
More women should make that choice to save the world from the burden of ignorant twits like yourself.

Is that a fact or fiction? Not only more women are climbing up the corporate ladders, but some even establish themselves in the political fields. Biologically, women have better endurance though men are stronger physically.

I'm wondering if you had a mom.I've heard young women say "I'm not stupid,I'm going to get married and sit at home and watch soap operas and eat bon-bons" It would depend what ypu mean by not amounting to anthing.MY mother kept our house comfortable and immaculate. My sheets were always fresh, our drapes were straight, and she was a great cook. When you say never amounting to anything, you sound like an abusive individual.Moms are the most important people on earth. Its the absentee fathers in this world who never amount to anything

It's quite sad and narrow minded to think that being good at taking care of a home, family and children means never amounting to anything in your book. You must define amounting to anything as the size of a paycheck. I pity you. You have a lot to learn and it doesn't appear as if you're making progress.
