I started having pain one day a couple of years ago, it started off in the centre like period pain, but then it moved to my right-hand side, and was a constant isolated pain (whereas in my experience period pain tends to come with all sorts of other aches and pains). I tried the old trick of hopping into bed with a hot water bottle, but could not settle down to sleep. I visited the hospital as I cannot get to see my doctor at the best of times. They said from what I described it was my appendix and it is common for the pain to start in the centre like mine did. They took a urine sample which came back showing infection, so they kept me in overnight to see how I was next day. I still had the pain next day so they whipped my appendix out. In my experience you would not be able to cope with prolonged appendix pain.
My advice would be to visit your doctor - I doubt they would take your appendix out unless it was giving you trouble, but if you're having pain then you need to get checked out before you worry yourself sick when it may be something that is relatively easily resolved.

If the appendix is not inflamed, the doctor will not remove it, unless another surgical procedure is being done and it can be removed at the same time. This could be an ovarian cyst. An ultrasound can tell you.

A Gas-x or other gas removing product is only designed to remove the gas that is in the digestive system. The gas that was injected into your abdominal cavity can only be absorbed and dealt with over time. If it is really painful and it does not go away in another two days, check your doctor and ask what they think. But having that done myself, it can hurt for up to a week before the gas is absorbed.

Not knowing your age or circumstances etc...the pains could one of many things. I would visit your GP again and ask for investigations. I am willing to put money on that it's a gynecological problem rather than a appendix problem

Before you panic, get a second opinion, and stop reading medical journals. They only rile people up and make people think the end is coming. Get a second opinion.
No doctor in their right mind would remove it unless it was ready to burst or was on that path. It is invasive as hell to get it removed, and is painful, believe me.... If you dont' have to get it done, don't... Your body is better off with it, than without it.
Thats like getting your heart removed due to fear of cardiac arrest. It may happen, it may not. Don't be hasty.

i dont think they'll remove it unles you have a problem with it. Go to your doctor and tell him that you are having pain in that area if he thinks its your appendix, they'll remove it anyway. P.s my appendix burst when i was 18 and 8 years later i'm still here! dont worry so much.

Ask your doctor.
Normally they don't do it unless you have problems with it...which your doctor will know...
Sometimes they have to do a rectal examination which isn't nice!!!
Try going to a private doctor if you really need to, they seem to be more willing to do operations on parts no longer used by us.
Remember though, once its gone, you can't get it back.

No, they won't do it unless you have tests and they find evidence that your appendix is infected etc.
