Perhaps because of all the harm the Bible has done so far. Christians tend to pick the soft stuff out of the Bible and ignore stuff like ethnic cleansing and talking donkeys. The Bible really makes a poor guide.
And, no, it isn't the "word of God". A god wouldn't write so badly.

actually i think you misunderstood what he was saying!
if he is a born again christian, he would welcome a conversation about the scriptures. However this response sounds more he has been OPPRESSED continually in his church and with his fellowships to be urged to read the bible.
i had the same reaction to the jehova witnesses i work with.
I had studied all religions and doctrines, and the ones that force their INCORRECT translations on me without the ability to "hear" a rebuttal is Just so much more Wicked in my opinion, that I would rather yell back at them SHUT up and GO to HELL.
Of course God doesnt send people to hell because they dont know the truth. He sends them to Hell for what they KNOW is TRUE

The Bible has not "harmed" anybody. People harm each other. The Bible is the Word of God and it is the truth and people don't like hearing the truth, I guess their afraid they might get convicted. All I can tell you is there is alot of people going to hell.

The proof of God is a cyclical proof to a christian. So if you ask them to review their belief, they get frustrated. For instance, they think that everything is so complex that God had to create us. But if we are so complex, then how could a God ever have been created as he is the most complex being above all. So you see, christians get frustrated when they try to work out their own creation theory.

Because nowadays people are forcefeeding their religion onto people who might not want it.
And because in today's world it seems that religious hatred is behind a lot of the world's problems.

I've been noticing that people are either being drawn to the Lord or are being really obnoxious and hateful about anything to do with Christians.

The Bible is a justification for genocide, bigotry, slavery and ignorance. Gee, what's not to like?

Not to sound descriminating.. but..
maybe its the nonsense in the bible. like the one where Lot impregnated his daughters.
Or maybe its the contradictions.
Or maybe just because it has too many versions! people don't have that unity if the bible itself is not ONE.
