Provide good evidence that the something is true. You could try emotional manipulation of human insecurities, like religions use, but I find that distasteful.
To establish good leadership, provide a good example. Also, give people responsibilities and support them while letting them show their skills.

It all about appealing to the emotions. Facts, figures, data and logic are nice but they'll always lose to a good old-fashioned gut-level emotional response. That's how TV ads work, that's how evangelism works and that's how successful politicking works.
This ain't the way it oughta be, it's just the way it is.
