I have had all 4 of mine out - 2 at a time. The first ones I was about 20 I think. The teeth were coming through at a weird angle any rubbing against my gums and inside of my mouth. They were just extracted in the dentists office using local anaesthetic, where they inject your mouth to numb it. It was pretty quick - not painful, but you could feel the pressure as the dentist pulled it out. Those 2 teeth had already come up through the gums and were fully up. It was quick and painless and healed easy - although you could hear it coming out. The other two, I think I was about 22. They weren't out of the gums, so they had to be broken into pieces and then cut out of the gum. I had general anaesthetic, so I just went to sleep and then woke up and it was all over. Because the gums were cut open to get them out and there was more to do in terms of breaking the teeth up to get them out (I think they use a drill for that), it took a bit longer to heal and I had stitches in my gums. It also took a while until there was no blood coming from the wound (a day). The general anaesthetic made me a bit sore and docile for a while afterwards, but all in all it was no drama. The pain of getting them out both times was way less than the pain they were giving me in my mouth, especially the second ones! It was more expensive to get the general anaesthetic procedure, but it had to be that way because they had to be cut out and broken. And the best bit was the dentist gave them to me in a little jar to keep. I still have them!

I had my wisdom teeth pulled out when I was 18. Was it painful? I'm not sure, particularly because I was put to sleep and then woke up with my cheeks puffed up. An operation was certainly done though.

I don't even remember being in great pain, but I do remember I wasn't able to eat certain food within the first week. I also had a habit of touching the area with my tongue, something I regret.

Fortunately I only had two wisdom teeth (instead of 4), and that meant less money.

Wisdom teeth don't have to come out they only have to be taken out if they don't fit your gums properly and cause an infection.I still have mine since they have not been any problem so far. Yes you have to get the dentist to pull them out or cut them out if they are painfull, sore and causing infection and as I've heard it's a bit painfull but not anywhere near as bad as living with the pain of the infected gum or dying tooth. Some people have them taken out in there early 20's some in there 30's and so on,or even younger depending on what age they atart coming through which I think the earlyist is around the age of 15 but don't hold me to that.Hope this helps

I was 17 when i had the operation. My teeth didnt even have to come in all the way for them to pull them out. It wasnt painful because I was under anesthetics. My mouth was sore the next few days, thats it. The kind of doctor was a orthodontic surgeon.

I was in my early 30's when they had to come out. It was sorta painful, on the other hand I was eating chips when I got home. First had one side done, then a few weeks later the other, that way I could chew with the other side and eat normally. No soup days for me!
Oh, it was no operation, just local anesticia.

My TMJ pained a lot.

Wisdom teeth is sme type of vestigial part in human body.
Its commonly in abnormal position.
Mine is embedded half way in d gingiva...

If it pains much then u can opt for its extraction too.

Sorry :( The tooth fairy will not come pick it up because it's too big and heavy. The tooth fairy can only take small teeth because she is very small and doesn't go to the gym.

I had an operation, completely under, and they were taken out, because there was not enough room in my mouth. There was discomfort afterwards for about two weeks, but most definitely worth it. I was 24 when it was done.
