My grand father who is in his late 80's and fought in the war etc is a little racist. He thinks the country has been ruined by immigration etc and he fought to protect Britain for Britains, not to give it up so easily to the foreign invasion. His views not mine.

I can not warn my Grandfather out of respect or warn her either just in case he does not say anything. How should i handle it to prevent embarrassment. My Granddad means well but he is a different generation with different values. Also a little crazy (Old Age)

I don't want her upsetting as we are staying in a country hotel and i'm hoping to seal the deal!!!

If you've invited her to dinner ... I suggest ... you feed her

Let your Grand-dad be himself if she gets too upset leave with her and apologise for him

this finished race has been with out difficulty depending talk. the reason that this modern Rev Wright tale is affecting Obama so deeply is because he truly has not some thing to fall decrease back on. His entire campaign has only been dependent round empty rhetoric like "replace" and "wish" and he hasn't ever expressed his perspectives on coverage. for the period of his entire campaign he hasn't ever addressed the subjects straight away and has been a media darling for the period of his campaign because to be honest- he's a likeable guy and a good speaker. This modern Rev. Wright difficulty has compelled the established public to ensure him as human and do not forget that there is more advantageous to him than only his talking potential and his message. the base line is that Obama does not have the skills to lead this us of a (which has been neglected in want of his likeability) and this scandal is proving that he can actually have racist tendancies. those 2 issues do not blend properly for voters and this is allowing Hillary to a distinct time become a element interior the race. with techniques from the way, you're accurate both Hillary and McCain have had negatives of their campaigns yet not some thing that compares to a black Presidential candidate being pegged as a plausible racist. i imagine his deliver must be sunk.

In the first place lets get something clear, "old people are not a little crazy" my own father fought on the Siegfried line during WW2 and, was under fire for 82 days, they ate the meat off dead horses the Germans left behind so, if not for them you wouldn't be saying what you were saying, without fear of repercussions from the police.

If you feel it's necessary to bring this girl into his home, then do it with your head held high. If you can't do that then stay home. That's your choice. You made a decision now live with it.

Warn her before you go away that your gradad does tend to mark racist comments. That way it does not come as a shock before the dinner, may be also tell your parents that your girlfriend is mixed-race and maybe they can have a quiet word with him.

But def warn your girlfriend in advance. Seeing as she is mixed-race its possible that one of her grandparents fought in the war so she may have that in common with him....who knows.

Also, if your grandad says something to upset her, you can rest assured that you wont be getting any whilst at the country hotel.

I think you should at least give her the head up even if you don't your grandfather. Would you like to walk into a situation like that. You would be pissed if she did that to you. Now I can't say not tell her wouldn't seal the deal for you but think about it do you really think your grandfather who is a little racist won't say a thing. You should allow her to make the decision to be bothered with that or not. Think with the head on your shoulder's for once and not the other one

For the person that talked about the white hood,u get a thumbs down, maybe you and grandpa should have dinner together I'm sure you would have alot in common. In a world where anything goes...WE STILL HAVE RACISM? .Invite.her to dinner ,warn her about your grandpa and let her make her own decision if she wants to go.I know that if I where put into that situation( and being biracial myself) have been..you could forget sealing the deal at that little country inn later that night.

I think all you can do is bite the bullet and let your friend know what ol' Gramps is like, citing the generation gap; the issue may not even come up, but she needs to be aware of the possibility of the old fella saying something...

Congradulations on hoping to seal the deal, I hope it goes well. My Grand Father didnt do anything because he knows that my girlfriend is important, and she is also mixed. He's in his late 80's, but dead now. But take her and if they dont like her, (God only hopes they dont), then take her to the hotel and surprise her. Good luck to you, good luck.

Tough one. OId people have no tact and dont care who they embarrass, they just say what they think - which unfortunately is usually hurtful and embarrassing.

If he says anything hurtful about her you're going to have to stand up for her and tell your Grandad straight that they are not your views. Show your girlfriend that you support her against the views of a doddering old man and hopefully that should be enough.

Either that - or pour sleeping pills in his tea and hope for quick results lol
